約翰·辛格·薩金特 JOHN SINGER SARGENT

薩金特一生熱衷於繪畫藝術事業，終身未娶 ，無視世俗的浮榮，一心一意沿著自己的藝術道路前進。

他一生的繪畫作品大約有 2500 件 到 3000 件，其中400多幅肖像畫（另說600百到700百件），幾乎無一雷同。

著名的有《波依特的四個女兒》、《卡羅勒斯·杜蘭肖像》、《少女與玫瑰》、《亨利·懷特夫人》和《維克三姐妹》等。因為他是美國人的後裔，所以他的名字被寫入美國繪畫史上，但他又是常居倫敦，

是英國皇家水彩畫家協會的會員、皇家蘇格蘭美術院院士，因而在英國水彩畫史中也有非常重要的位置。

約翰·辛格·薩金特的墓地位於薩林郡沃金布魯克伍德公墓（Brookwood Cemetery）
1925年4月15日，薩金特在睡夢中因心髒病發作在倫敦去世，享年六十九歲。
4月24日於西敏寺教堂舉行喪禮，他的遺體安葬在薩林郡瓦金葛的布魯克伍德墓園。
